Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a car park?

Yes. We have our own car park away from the road for security where all guests can park their cars.

Is there a bus to Montclus?

Yes. There is a bus from central Avignon and Avignon TGV train station direct to The Lotus Tree. It runs once daily Mon-Fri, departing the TGV station around 1440; its destination is Aubenas. The journey to Montclus takes around an hour. In July and August there are two buses Monday-Saturday and one on Sunday. The first bus leaves Avignon TGV at about 1250 with a second one around 1905 but this one does not run on Sundays.

Do you offer a pick-up service from the airport?

Yes. We can usually organise a pick-up if required. From Avignon TGV station (45 minutes away) it costs €60,00 each way. From Nimes Airport (an hour) it cost €70,00. You can expect to pay at least half as much again for a regular taxi. For other airports please ask us.

How can I hire a car?

Cars can be hired at all the airports close to us and at Avignon TGV train station. We always recommend that our guests hire a car if they do not bring their own. We are in a rural location and you will need a car to see the area properly and to get to most of the restaurants. Try www.hertz.com, www.avis.com, www.europcar.com and www.budget.com to find the best prices.

Can I be naked at The Lotus Tree?

Yes. The Lotus Tree is clothing optional. That means that you are free to be naked but you don't have to be. Most guys sunbathe by the pool naked - some prefer to keep swimming trunks on. Naked or not, it's up to you, but nobody is made to feel uncomfortable either way. Our grounds are very secluded so being naked at The Lotus Tree is not a problem.

Are there nude/gay beaches nearby?

Yes. There are two gay naturist areas/beaches on the Cèze river close to The Lotus Tree.

Is there any "action"?

The Lotus Tree is a very laid-back, relaxed environment. It's not Ibiza or Sitges which is why people come here. Of course sex isn't banned but you shouldn't expect a highly sexual atmosphere.

Is there wireless internet access?

Yes. All guests with their own laptops have free access to our wireless network.

Do you have English-language television?

Yes. All rooms have televisions with English and French-language television channels.

I am single. Am I welcome?

Yes, of course. Single guys are very welcome and we have a special single rate of €65,00 euro a night all season. There are usually more couples than single guys but there is generally a mixture.

Are the rooms air-conditioned?

No. The rooms have thick stone walls that keep them cool in summer. All rooms have fans. Heat is rarely a problem in the rooms unless we have a severe heat-wave.

Do you serve food?

We offer breakfast everyday at €8,50 per person. Light lunches are available on request. We do not offer evening meals on a regular basis although we do organise dinner nights for all the guests from time to time.

Do you serve drinks?

We have an honesty bar where you can help yourself to wine, beer and soft drinks and sign for what you take. You simply clear your bill when you check out.

Are there restaurants nearby?

Yes. There are lots of restaurants within a short drive of The Lotus Tree. They are at all prices from the very economical to haute cuisine. We will give you a full list when you arrive. Only one or two places are accessible by foot, however.

Can I smoke?

All the rooms are non-smoking but you are free to smoke outside if you wish. Please don't leave cigarette butts on the ground and be careful as the grass is very dry in summer. Smoking is not permitted at breakfast.

Are there gay bars and clubs close to The Lotus Tree?

No. The nearest bars, clubs and saunas are in Avignon and Nîmes. If you need to go clubbing regularly to enjoy your holiday then we are probably not the place for you.

Do you hold special events?

Yes. Recent special events have included naked yoga, writing courses and photography. Please contact us for the latest details.

Do you accept dogs?

No. Sorry, dogs are not allowed.

When do you serve breakfast?
